Monochrome Mastery in South Florida

Project Details

Some kitchens whisper. This one holds its ground.

In a Miami waterfront condo, an outdated ADA kitchen was ready for renewal. The clients were clear from the beginning. They did not want to relocate plumbing or electrical. They did not want to disrupt the overall footprint. What they wanted was transformation without upheaval. A kitchen that felt timeless, intentional, and quietly powerful. The solution began with material clarity.

Paso in Nano Black forms the architectural envelope of the space. Matte, seamless, and deeply saturated, the cabinetry creates a sense of calm precision. The absence of ornament allows proportion and alignment to lead. Every reveal, every junction, every horizontal line feels considered.

Anchoring the room is 2cm Black Vermont Deep-Tek granite, selected at Nature of Marble in Delray Beach. Two slabs were required to accommodate the generous counter spans. The stone’s subtle texture introduces movement within the monochromatic palette. It catches light softly, adding dimension without distracting from the overall restraint of the design.

The appliance suite was curated as part of the architecture, not layered onto it. Black glass from Miele integrates seamlessly with fully paneled Sub-Zero refrigeration and Wolf induction cooking. The result is high performance that visually recedes into the cabinetry. Black steel Kohler fixtures provide a crisp counterpoint, precise and understated.

The clients first encountered eggersmann while exploring DCOTA in Dania Beach. A black kitchen display drew them in, but it was the design approach that ultimately mattered. Thoughtful guidance. Respect for constraints. No unnecessary persuasion. Just a clear understanding of what the space needed and what it did not.

Designer Ralph Edwards and Technical Designer Lorena Iazzetta approached the project as an exercise in refinement. Working within the existing framework, they elevated every surface and detail. The final result feels entirely new, yet nothing fundamental was moved.

This kitchen is proof that impact does not require expansion. It requires intention, material confidence, and the discipline to edit.

Before

Although the layout remained exactly the same, the transformation is dramatic. The former kitchen, with orange accents and exposed metal detailing, felt visually busy and tied to its era.

By replacing bold contrasts with a seamless Nano Black palette and simplifying the overall composition, the space now feels calm, architectural, and timeless. The footprint stayed intact, but the experience of the kitchen is entirely new.
