Project: Austin Renovated Kitchen & Living Area

Project Details

This Austin homeowner employed a winning duo, Designer, Julie Dodson, and eggersmann Austin. We loved this project because it illustrates just how beautiful mixing styles for a unique creation can be.

The Ask

The homeowner and Julie wanted a transitional design. This project is an example of how eggersmann cabinetry does not have to be ultra-modern. This kitchen highlights that we create the vision clients want which often includes traditional or classic elements.

Other key wants were to maximize the small space for storage and displaying the art-collecting homeowner’s unique pieces in the living area.

The Solutions

Kitchen

To create the desired transitional style, Julie Dodson worked with eggersmann designer, Micky Nguyen, selecting a traditional framed door juxtaposed with a concrete veneer solid handle-less door. Introducing square cabinet knobs and the handle-less design and a traditional wood range with concrete balanced the design creating a truly transitional design, neither too traditional or contemporary.

Pantry

To maximize pantry storage for the small space, the design include a tall corner Leman, tall Tandem pantries, and Works turn system that works beautifully in a tight space as the pantry panel rotates rather than uses a door that swings into the walking area. Using the Bronze Glass for the Works unit lightened the pantry area.

Dining Buffet

Additional storage and classic style was added to the dining area with a traditional wood buffet designed to float for a modern statement.

Living Room

In the living room, a Schmalenbach glass display unit showcases the homeowners’ favorite art pieces anchoring a functional space for the TV and storage. Built-in LED lighting in the media unit’s niches gives great ambient light and illuminates her art pieces for enjoyment any time of the day or night.
