Project: LA Silver Lake Luxury Kitchen & Bath

project details

This luxury kitchen and bath were a part of a larger renovation project with a builder we always enjoy working with. The home of the young couple is located in LA’s Silver Lake community.

The area is a very popular neighborhood in LA that over the past couple of decades has transformed into a vibrant community home to celebrities, artists of all genres, professionals, and families. There are many reasons why it is so popular: proximity to Hollywood and downtown, breathtaking hilltop views, trendy boutique shopping, diverse dining, bar, and coffee shop choices, and the enormous Silver Lake Reservoir which offers a 2.25-mile running and walking loop. In addition to the loop, you can explore Silver Lake’s famous and historic not-so-secret “secret stairs”.

The builder’s renovation of this home in a quiet neighborhood had the goal to update the 1970s decor and architecture to a modern, minimal aesthetic. The homeowners were so open to ideas we suggested from their early input. They offered a picture of a kitchen as their inspiration. It featured:

  • Clean lines with an airy feel
  • White kitchen with a darker painted wall
  • No overhead cabinets
  • Refrigerator nested next to the counter space
  • A striking, but minimal design range hood
  • A full wall of cabinets

clients’ kitchen design inspiration photos

Note the images below are design inspiration photos from our clients, not eggersmann designs.

The homeowners considered our Oak Veneer to set the stage for the kitchen and bath, but decided on Melamine purely because they like the look of it better. Our Light Oak and White Melamines along with marble delivered the airy, sophisticated modern style the clients desired.

luxury kitchen project challenges

The builder had to remove an entire wall 8” from its originally designed position after the cabinetry was built and shipped. So we had to reconfigure the design during install. Also, the client decided to add a roof terrace which required adding a staircase behind the fridge so more on-site redesign.

Luckily, the homeowners were unfazed by the barrage of decisions required for the installation changes so a less-than-ideal situation was not as stressful as it could have been and resulted in the same lovely, airy, and thoroughly modern kitchen.

the results

The kitchen and bath fit beautifully into the renovated open space after the installation tweaks. And the homeowners got a 100% custom kitchen and bath based on their inspiration photos. All appliances are Miele.
