Designer Spotlight with Andrea Villamarin

We had the pleasure of catching up with Andrea Villamarin, one of our talented designers at eggersmann USA’s Houston showroom. Originally from Colombia, Andrea brings a unique international perspective to her work, backed by a Bachelor’s degree in Interior and Residential Design. When she’s not creating stunning interiors, she enjoys exploring new places, connecting with people, and indulging in a great ceviche. 

Get to know more about Andrea’s journey, inspirations, and experiences in our conversation below: 

Q: How long have you been at eggersmann USA?
Andrea: 12 years

Q: What do you do at eggersmann USA?
Andrea: I am one of the designers. I basically do sales and design.

Q: What is one thing you always have in your bag or at your desk with you?
Andrea: Lotion! Every time I wash my hands I need lotion, so I keep one in my purse and one right next to my desk.

Q: Do you have a favorite eggersmann material, finish, or product line?
Andrea: Yes I do! Actually, we have a new display that I can show you. Our new display has a beautiful door that I think is one of my favorites now and it’s called OSAKA. This is the pearl oak, so it’s a beautiful light-colored wood and I love it!

Q: What is one thing you’d choose to cook or make in this eggersmann kitchen?
Andrea: I would say a salad, and I would be very happy to use this beautiful sink that is called The Galley. It is very large and it has all these accessories that you can actually use in these different tiers. I would have space to do veggies, to have my lettuce on one side in one of the bowls, and I think this would be the perfect setup to make a great salad.

Q: What is one space in your own home that you love to spend time in?
Andrea: The kitchen.

Q: If you were not in the design world or here at eggersmann, where do you think you would be?
Andrea: I don’t know, I’d be lost in the world! I love designing and I’m very design-oriented. I love painting, drawing, always have been very artistic since I was in school, so yeah, I don’t know what I would be doing. I don’t see myself anywhere else!

Q: If you could choose one word to describe your experience here at eggersmann, what would it be?
Andrea: Learning experience. I am still learning up until this day because our product is so custom that every single project—kitchen, anything—is so different. With every project, we learn something new: about construction, about design, about how to make things work, about even engineering the product. So yeah, I’d say it’s a learning experience.
