Sustainability is a Global Conversation
Global conversations, including those taking place at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, echo these same values of awareness and longevity. COP30 is the very helpfully abbreviated acronym for Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) recently shared, “Buildings account for 21 percent of energy-related CO₂ emissions in Latin America. As international leaders head to Belém, we’re calling for governments to recognize the major role of the built environment in closing the emissions and resilience gaps.” (source: World Green Building Council, November 6, 2025, “Green Building Councils across the Americas outline key policy priorities ahead of COP30 in Brazil,” worldgbc.org)
This sobering message extends beyond policy. It invites everyone involved in design, from manufacturers and architects to builders and homeowners, to reflect on how the spaces we create can reduce impact, encourage longevity, and inspire mindful living.
