Project Details
A refined approach to island living— where every detail is intentional and every space is connected to its surroundings.
Set within the coveted KoKo Kai neighborhood in Honolulu, Hawaii, this full-home remodel brings a renewed sense of clarity and cohesion to a once traditional space. The eggersmann New York team including designer Joe Louis and technical designer, Jose Moguel took on this project in collaboration with architect Andrew Forman of BLUEPRINT808. Both everyday living and elevated entertaining were kept in mind during the design process, allowing the home to unfold as a seamless blend of clean architectural lines, warm materials, and thoughtful detailing.
At the core of the home, the kitchen unfolds as both a functional workspace and a visual anchor. A monolithic waterfall island in soft stone sets the tone, complemented by warm wood flooring and sleek, integrated cabinetry. Sculptural glass pendants introduce a layer of softness, while expansive glazing draws the eye outward—blurring the line between interior and horizon. A hidden bar and pantry moment, wrapped in a striking high-gloss wood veneer, adds depth and contrast to the otherwise restrained palette. This darker, richly grained volume becomes a focal point within the open plan—both concealing and revealing moments of use with intention.
Throughout the home, each supporting space—from the mudroom and laundry to the recreation and bar areas—carries the same design language: streamlined, highly functional, and quietly refined. In the primary bath and secondary bathrooms, the material story shifts slightly softer. Floating vanities in warm wood tones, layered stone surfaces, and integrated lighting create a spa-like atmosphere, enhanced by natural light and subtle views beyond. These spaces feel both elevated and deeply livable—designed for daily ritual as much as visual impact.
Interestingly, shortly after the completion of the remodel, the home was sold—leaving the full story of the client’s vision open-ended. Whether intended as a personal retreat or a strategic investment, the result remains: a thoughtfully executed transformation that speaks to both lifestyle and long-term value.
