Designers Marveled at The Art of Veneer
Evan Soltoff, VP of Operations at eggersmann USA, presented an informative Continuing Education Unit (CEU) event at the eggersmann Florida showroom in the DCOTA. The class was held as part of DCOTA Epicenter D’Elegance fall market event. The special day is full of opportunities to learn, laugh, and lunch. The eggersmann team was thrilled to join in offering designers fun and CEU credit.
The attendees marveled at the marriage of craftsmanship and technology that produce exquisite wood veneers that enable cabinetry to be built from ultra-stable and strong substrate materials while appearing to be solid luxury materials. Showroom manager and designer, Erika Clifford, and the entire Florida design team welcomed the CEU attendees and visiting eggersmann USA leadership.
Attendees gathered in our home living display area to enjoy information that Evan Soltoff shared about the Art of Veneer along with photos of the eggersmann factory craftsman and high-tech equipment.
From the artisanal tombs of Egyptian pharaohs 5000+ years ago through several millenia, the techniques and materials used in veneers have broadened as the marriage of craftsmanship and state-of-the-art computer-aided technology matured. Evan shared the history and evolution of this sought-after technique that enables the use of highly stable and strong cabinetry substrate that looks like it is made of solid wood, solid stone, or other materials. His elaboration of how veneer is created and applied highlighted the complexity and experience required in the veneer matching process. The attendees felt that after learning more about veneer that they can more confidently design with and order veneers.
In addition to the class time, guests explored the showroom opening and closing doors and drawers and experiencing the luxury finishes, many of them textured or veneer finishes.
Our guests enjoyed a buffet lunch with special treats as they explored the showroom.
In addition to learning about the history and process of veneering and enjoying lunch and the showroom, the attendees got the opportunity to mingle with fellow design professionals.
