Schmalenbach, a multi-generation, family-owned German innovator, opened the doors of its Gummersbach showroom to share its latest product developments and factory efficiency advancements. As our partner for home living and wardrobe solutions, we were excited to explore the new finishes, materials, and creative ways to combine the many design possibilities now available.
New Concepts in Wardrobes
Schmalenbach’s newest wardrobe display reinterprets familiar elements into a composition that feels entirely fresh. A double-width glass top hovers above the island’s jewelry display, paired with an upholstered bench featuring a softly angled roll-top back. Subtle plinth lighting adds depth, while open-framed hanging sections create an airy feel and natural ventilation.
A circular backlit mirror introduces vanity function while serving as a statement feature, and hidden outlets preserve the calm, minimal aesthetic throughout.
A Study in Stitched Leather
Schmalenbach’s breadth of materials and finishes allows design to feel expressive across living spaces, wardrobes, bedrooms, and offices. A leather-wrapped desk is a quiet statement of craftsmanship. Its sculpted form and seamless writing surface are fully wrapped in stitched leather, revealing a level of tailoring more often associated with fine upholstery than furniture.
This same attention to detail extends into storage, where padded, stitched leather cabinet fronts transform functional elements into tactile design features. Subtle and beautifully executed, these details reflect Schmalenbach’s legacy of craftsmanship and its ability to bring refinement to the everyday.
Factory Expansion
In its ongoing pursuit of delivering exceptional home living solutions with both speed and precision, Schmalenbach continues to invest in the tools and infrastructure that support its craftspeople and broaden design possibilities. To accommodate an expanding range of materials and finishes while improving project efficiency, the factory recently introduced a second level of storage within its existing footprint.
