On September 13, 2022, our eggersmann Houston team celebrated Sherwin-Williams’ Color of the Year: Redend Point. Our eco-friendly dried floral centerpiece in the front display kitchen featured not only the heralded color, but several colors from its ColorMix palette, entitled “nexus”.
If beige could blush…well, it did with Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year 2023, Redend Point.
In color psychology, pink is thought to be associated with romance, nurturing, and empathy. Studies in color design have shown pink to have a calming effect on people. So adding it to a classic earthtone like beige is a winner.
The color as an accent or main design element will bring warmth and serenity to any space.
The color’s grounding effect is no coincidence as it was inspired by Earth herself.
Redend Point’s soft earthy reddish tone is part of a full suite of earthy hues, Sherwin Williams labeled “nexus”. The full color collection surrounding the Color of the Year is a potter’s palette of natural clays, sun-baked desert sands, grounding grays and browns, and soft, soulful not-quite whites.
Sherwin-Williams shared that this intriguing and inviting “nexus” palette was selected to embody human factors, energy center, inclusion principle, and community.
We appreciate the inspirations for this 2023 ColorMix selection of hues. The subtle and soulful colors undeniably bring warmth and calm to the most minimal design. Here are a few examples that illustrate how this palette can be implemented in a variety of moods.
The Color of the Year, Redend Point and its surrounding pallette ColorMix of the Year, nexus, rose to the top of a crème de la crème collection of Earth-inspired colors, shared earlier this year in their Sherwin Williams’ ColorMix Forecast for 2023 entitled “terra”.
For those who have to have a little more punch in their designs, the additional complementary palettes in the “terra” collection are worth exploring. All of this ColorMix Forecast’s colors relate well to one another and they colors beyond browns, grays, and reds including yellows, blues, greens, and a tinge of the rarest color in the rainbow, purple.
