Design Retainers Explained

eggersmann designer reviewing design retainer with clients in a showroom

When you visit an eggersmann showroom, we will be eager to discover your wants and needs and, if applicable, to work with your interior designer or architect. An eggersmann designer will show you examples of products, designs featured in our display areas, and samples of materials and finishes.

We will examine your architectural drawings and any pictures of examples of colors, finishes, styles, or features that you desire. Your first encounter in the showroom will be an engaged conversation between you, your design professionals and our in-showroom designer.

If you have interest, we will create some preliminary design work to present ideas of how our offerings could bring your vision to life. Then we schedule a second meeting to go over the selected finishes, the mood board, proposal, and design retainer.

What is a Design Retainer?

For eggersmann, the retainer enables us to allocate resources beyond the preliminary discussion to start your design project. In between conversations with you, our client, our designers and technical designers utilize state-of-the-art software and years of experience in luxury cabinetry design to clarify our understanding of your needs and wants giving a solid foundation for your feedback so we can arrive at a final design that will delight you.

The retainer gives you a written commitment from eggersmann to provide a series of services. Following retainment, we go out to your site to take measurements. We create drawings to demonstrate room layout, elevations, and feature locations. We release all drawings and any renderings, if created, to you. The services covered by the retainer ensure that you have ample input into the design process.

Financial Arrangements

The retainer is not reimbursable, but it will be applied to the final project cost. Retainer fees start at $10,000 per room and are based on variables such as room size and features desired.

The retainer can be paid using a credit card, check, or wire transfer. Note this is the only time we accept credit cards as a form of payment.

A retainer serves as more than just a financial arrangement. It establishes a foundation for a fruitful and sustainable partnership between eggersmann and you, our client.
