Future Ideas from 100+ Years of Experience

Founding and Early Years

Wilhelm Eggersmann, a master carpenter, founded eggersmann in 1908 at the age of 23. His dedication to cabinet-making was unparalleled, with family members recalling that he had no other hobbies or interests beyond the business. In recognition of his social commitment to his employees and the local region, Wilhelm was awarded the prestigious Federal Cross of Merit in 1959.

Transition and Expansion

Wilhelm’s son, Ewald, tragically passed away in 1947, leaving behind a 10-year-old daughter, Christa Eggersmann. Christa and her mother moved to Hiddenhausen, Germany, to live next door to Wilhelm. Without a direct successor, Wilhelm led the company until his passing in 1967.

Living near Wilhelm’s home and workshop, Christa developed a deep passion for the family business. Taking over in 1967, she expanded the company and began exporting its expertly crafted cabinetry. A serendipitous encounter with a Dutchman in the late 1960s led to the first exports to the Netherlands, paving the way for global distribution.

Modern Era

Today, great-grandson Michael Wunram continues the family legacy as eggersmann’s CEO, having taken the reins in 1995. Under his leadership, the company has hastened the expansion of its exports while maintaining a commitment to quality craftsmanship and innovation. As a fourth-generation German cabinetry company, eggersmann blends traditional handcrafting techniques with modern design and precision.

The company’s award-winning innovations support contemporary living trends and enhance functionality in every room while maintaining a modern minimalist aesthetic. Celebrated for its unmatched flexibility in design and production, eggersmann offers bespoke cabinetry solutions, from turnstile pantries and integrated lighting to cantilevered islands that impress guests. The seamless integration of tradition and state-of-the-art design delivers an unparalleled experience in kitchens and beyond.

The eggersmann factory remains at its original location in Hiddenhausen, Germany, alongside the family home. Beginnings

In 1993, founders Michael and Sandra Soltoff started a small, family-run whole-home renovation company in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. With Sandra’s artistic background and Michael’s passion for fine carpentry, they formed a perfect partnership in both life and business.

Evolution

As their expertise grew, their design preferences shifted towards European styles with contemporary aesthetics. They developed a strong interest in the unique German cabinetry market, leading to the founding of eggersmann USA in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, in 2009. By securing an agreement with the German headquarters of eggersmann, they introduced the brand to North America. Their dedication to design and the eggersmann brand, along with their commitment to people, quickly turned their dreams into reality, establishing seven nationwide corporate showrooms and eight dealer partners in the US and Mexico.

Strategic Partnerships

In 2012, eggersmann USA formed a strategic partnership with Schmalenbach Design, a renowned German custom wardrobe systems maker. This collaboration complemented the eggersmann cabinetry collections, enabling us to offer solutions for every room in the home, including kitchens, butler pantries, bathrooms, wardrobes, media centers, libraries, offices, mud rooms, and more.

In 2023, another significant partnership was established with CUBIC Outdoor Living, an award-winning German manufacturer of custom outdoor kitchens and furniture. This expanded our luxury offerings to include outdoor kitchens, lounges, pool decks, and other outdoor living areas.

Future

The next generation, son Evan Soltoff, VP of Operations, and daughter Dana McManus, Director of Marketing, are actively shaping the future of eggersmann USA. They share their parents’ passion for people, design, and excellence, ensuring a bright and expanding future for the company. In less than two decades, the small two-person renovation business has transformed into a luxury cabinetry brand serving major luxury markets across North America. Despite its growth, eggersmann USA remains family-operated and family-oriented.
