An Outdoor Retreat: CUBIC Outdoor Living x Adam Hunter

In the 2026 Living by Design Virtual Showhouse, outdoor design is approached as an extension of architecture rather than an afterthought. Created in collaboration with LUXE Interiors + Design, the digital format allows each space to be developed with complete clarity, where material, structure, and environment are considered as one.

For Adam Hunter, the outdoor space begins with that idea. Designed in partnership with CUBIC Outdoor Living, the process is rooted in materiality and modular design, using CUBIC’s architectural systems as the foundation rather than layering furniture onto a finished space.

Form, Flow, and Outdoor Architecture

The first impression is architectural clarity. Strong horizontal and vertical lines define the space, while modular elements from CUBIC create a framework that feels structured yet open. Zones for lounging, gathering, and dining are established through placement rather than enclosure.

There is a softness within that structure. Edges feel intentional but not rigid. The layout allows movement to happen naturally, guiding you through the space without interruption. It reads as a continuous outdoor environment rather than a series of separate moments.

A Focus on Material Performance

Material selection is central to the design. CUBIC Outdoor Living’s finishes are chosen for both durability and refinement, balancing performance with a clean, contemporary aesthetic. Surfaces feel smooth and controlled, with a weight and presence that grounds the space.

Neutral tones dominate the palette, allowing the materials themselves to carry the design. Light moves across these surfaces throughout the day, subtly shifting how the space is perceived. Nothing feels overly treated or decorative. Instead, the materials are allowed to speak through texture and consistency.

Soft elements are introduced through upholstery, adding contrast to the architectural framework. Cushions and textiles bring warmth and comfort, softening the precision of the structure without disrupting its clarity.

Designed for Living

Adam Hunter’s approach centers on livability, and that is felt in the way the space functions. Seating invites conversation. Layouts support both quiet moments and larger gatherings. Transitions between zones are fluid and intuitive.

The modular nature of CUBIC Outdoor Living allows the design to feel adaptable without losing its structure. Every element has purpose, yet nothing feels fixed or restrictive. The result is an outdoor environment that feels intentional and immersive. It is not simply an exterior space, it is an extension of how we want to live. Where structure, comfort, and atmosphere exist in balance.

The home is further shaped by a range of incredibly talented partners.
