Exploring Milan Through the Eyes of Anne Breux

On May 15, 2024, at our recent intimate gathering, esteemed designer Anne Breux led us on a journey through her exploration of Milan, the vibrant epicenter of design innovation. Against the backdrop of the Rho Fiera Milano fairgrounds, where Salone del Mobile 2024 unfolded, Anne embarked on a captivating exploration of the city’s design wonders.

Anne’s extensive experience spanning 40 years in interior design, coupled with her Parisian roots, provided a unique lens through which to view Milan’s architectural marvels and design innovations. From the prestigious Salone del Mobile to the hidden gems tucked away in Milan’s streets, Anne shared her insights with passion and eloquence.

Anne’s narrative started with her visit to the renowned fairgrounds, where she was immersed in a whirlwind of creativity and inspiration.

Among the myriad exhibits at Salone, Anne made a noteworthy stop at the EuroCucina exhibits to greet familiar faces at the eggersmann booth. While visiting, she couldn’t help but notice the nami kitchen presented by eggersmann, a contemporary showcase that perfectly aligned with the prevailing trends in Milan this year. She expressed delight at witnessing how eggersmann’s presentation resonated with the pulse of the design scene, reflecting the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation.

Anne went on to highlight many of her favorite moments during her visit. She recounted her exploration of iconic works such as the Up chairs by Gaetano Pesce, which she encountered at both the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and the Triennale. With a keen eye for detail, she delved into the symbolism behind the striking blue chairs adorned with hands, offering a deeper appreciation for their significance.

One of the many treasures Anne uncovered in Milan was the La Terrazza di Santambrogiomilano, an architectural marvel crafted entirely in glass.

The all-glass terrace offers a 360-degree view and is used for events and meetings.

The terrace is an exquisite example of how a space can be created entirely from sustainable materials, as glass is 100% recyclable.

You could feel Anne’s excitement as she described the innovative terrace and envisioned the future harvest of grapes from its beautiful vines in the years to come.

Additionally, her encounter with Marva Griffin, the visionary behind the SaloneSatellite concept, left a lasting impression, inspiring Anne to continue championing young designers and pushing the boundaries of design innovation.

As Anne’s presentation drew to a close, guests expressed their gratitude for her illuminating insights and the opportunity to see Milan through her experienced eyes. Mingling with Anne, attendees exchanged thoughts and reflections, deepening their understanding of the intricate interplay between culture, creativity, and design.

We thank Anne Breux for sharing her insights with us all.
